AI-powered activity monitoring wearable for elderly people selected as a CES 2020 Innovation Awards Honoree
CarePredict, an AI-powered digital health platform that enables two-way communication between the wearer and carers or loved ones, has announced that its smart wearable Tempo Series 3 has been named a CES 2020 Innovation Awards Honoree.
Run by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the CES Innovation Awards celebrate the best in consumer technology products.
Recognised for being an innovative product in the wearables category at this year’s awards, the Tempo Series 3 wearable is unique as it notices small changes in the daily activity patterns of elderly people that can precede falls, malnutrition, depression, and Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs). The wearables monitor activities such as eating, cooking, walking, sleeping, bathing and bathroom use patterns.
Incorporating an array of sensors, indoor location data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI), the wearables learn the wearer’s “normal” activity pattern and alerts family and friends when there is a deviation from their normal pattern. These insights enable loved ones and carers to see when the wearer is skipping meals, isn’t sleeping well, is less active or observe behaviour changes.
Using the CarePredict @Home app, families and carers can receive alerts, compare the wearer’s current behaviour to past behaviours and coordinate care with other family members through the built-in Care Circle communication feature.
“The data from conventional fitness trackers and smartwatches are not sufficient in assessing the continued wellness of a senior,” said Satish Movva, CEO and Founder of CarePredict. “Tempo Series Wearables and the AI platforms behind it have been developed exclusively for the care of seniors with their unique needs in mind. For instance, we know that falls can occur during the night when conventional wearables are being recharged. So, we designed the Tempo with a swappable battery to ensure it never needs to be taken off for charging.”
Satish added that the wearable also facilitates two-way communication between the wearer and family members or carers for immediate reassurance.
