Marie Claire wins Innovation of the Year for work in sustainability – Future plc

Future’s leading women’s lifestyle brand, Marie Claire UK, won Innovation of the Year at the British Society of Magazine Editors Talent Awards 2022 for its ongoing work to bring sustainability to the forefront through myriad events, partnerships, awards and a dedicated channel.

Supporting our work in Taking Responsibility, part of Our Future, Our Responsibility, Marie Claire has been at the vanguard of women’s brands championing environmental issues for many years. Leading up to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in 2021, Marie Claire raised awareness of the important summit and brought sustainability to life in a whole new way with two new flagship events and a new dedicated sustainability channel, hosting a wealth of content for its conscientious readers.

The Sustainability Festival and Awards events were ground-breaking in the industry – the first events dedicated to sustainability and global action on climate change – and cemented Marie Claire’s position as a leading force in media driving the conversation around climate change and mindful consumption.

Marie Claire UK Editor-in-Chief, Andrea Thompson says: “It’s wonderful to have been recognised by the industry for our hard work over the past two years bringing this subject to life and engaging new audiences through events, awards, videos, special issues and a dedicated sustainability channel. It’s not easy to keep driving the conversation around climate change when the answer lies in asking difficult questions of companies and encouraging people to cut down on the things they love, but we’ve witnessed attitudes shift and are thankful to be able to work with some amazing pioneers and thought leaders along the way.”
