Montreal Summit on Innovation: An unmissable event for industry leaders

Are you interested in learning about key drivers of innovation stemming from research, and new ways of furthering science to benefit society at large? If the answer is yes, the Montreal Summit on Innovation is not to be missed.

The Montreal Summit on Innovation (MSI) provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity to connect with world-class experts and acquire crucial new tools and concrete solutions that you can apply to your own organization. Through various panels, collaborative experiences and conferences, the MSI will encourage participants to rethink current research practices and reflect on the challenges to come.

Will the research of tomorrow be more focused on public participation? What role will co-development play? How can we improve interaction between disciplines? What role will research play in public policy and governance? What financing methods should be put in place to promote its development? These are just some of the questions that will be addressed during the eighth edition of the MSI, presented by the Quartier de l’innovation (QI), the Fonds de recherche du Québec and Aligo Innovation as part of C2 Montréal on May 24, 2019.

Participation in the MSI means having a full day of collaborative experiences, key insights and inspiring encounters with the world’ s leading innovation leaders. Throughout the event, participants, experts, university researchers, entrepreneurs and investors will contribute to a collective conversation that will see Quebec at the forefront of research and development. Topical subjects will include:

  • The involvement of citizens and end-users in the advancement of science (research co-development)
  • New methods and models of research funding
  • Open science and open data (open source)
  • Interdisciplinarity and new collaborations
  • Technology and knowledge transfer
  • The enhancement of research and intellectual property

The following is a taste of what MSI has planned for you this year:

  • Les Affaires breakfast seminar

On the menu: best practices, public and institutional policies that bring about change… and a good dose of inspiration to get the day off to a strong start.

  • Collaborative experiences

Put your new learning into practice in two participatory workshops focused on the recognition of different sources of knowledge and new models for funding public research.

  • Panel: Knowledge economy 101

Meet the science and innovation leaders who are addressing the challenges of translating research into business, and explore the skills that will be expected of future workers with Prof. David Keith (Harvard University), Pauline Gagnon (Indiana University) and more.

  • C2 Agora Talk, presented by the MSI

Conversation with Sabrina Geremia (Country Director, Google Canada), interviewed by Jui Ramaprasad (Associate Professor of Information Systems, McGill University).

  • Closing panel and cocktail: Intellectual property and globalization

Finish the day off with another inspiring discussion with experts and Mr. Pierre Fitzgibbon, Quebec’s Minister of Economy and Innovation. Following that, take stock of your findings and connect with other high-profile participants in an intimate and friendly environment.
