NIT Silchar secures rank between 11 – 25 in Atal Ranking of Institutions for Innovation

Registering one more success in its dairy, NIT Silchar has obtained rank between 11-25th in the Atal Ranking of Institutions for Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the results of which were declared on Tuesday.

Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu announced the results virtually in the presence of Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union Minister for Education & Sanjay Dhotre, MoS Ministry of Education.

“I am happy to share that NIT Silchar has ranked 11-25th in the Atal Ranking of Institutions for Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The rankings are based on key indicators demonstrating Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development among students and faculty.” NIT Director Prof. Sivaji Bandyopadhyay said.

Ministry of Education, Govt. of India has initiated ‘Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation achievements (ARIIA)’ to systematically rank education institutions and universities primarily on innovation-related indicators. ARIIA considers all major indicators which are commonly used globally to rank most innovative education institutions/ universities in the world.

Speaking during the occasion of the announcement of the ranking, Union Minister of Education, Pokhriyal mentioned that the ranking is named after our former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. “Under his leadership, India took many leaps in the field of Innovation. Further, realizing the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to make India Atma Nirabhar, this ranking is a true reflection of his aspirations and a tribute to his vision and dreams for the nation. Union minister added that ARIIA gives us a reflection of our efforts and provides us with a reason to celebrate our achievements” the minister said.

He mentioned that a National Research Foundation (NRF) will be set up for invigorating innovation and research under recently released Nation Education Policy (NEP). Pokhriyal appealed all higher education institutes across the country to come forward and participate in the upcoming edition of ARIIA 2021.

The Vice President, M Venkaiah Naidu called upon researchers and scientists to pay greater attention to agriculture and come up with innovations to address the problems faced by farmers.

Speaking on the occasion, Naidu said from providing timely information on various issues to farmers to creating cold storage facilities and supplying new technologies should be the focus of innovators and researchers.
