Project Manager Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence Consortium — AcademicTransfer

Are you a service oriented professional, capable of working with multiple stakeholders, contributing to a world class scientific position of the University of Amsterdam in the field of Artificial Intelligence?

This position will be specifically for a national consortium with funding from NWO and industry. The consortium is an initiative of ICAI, the Innovation Center for Articifial Intelligence, which is coordinated by the UvA. ICAI is a national network, with the aim to develop more knowledge and talent for the Dutch AI ecosystem. The consortium is building around ICAI and in the ICAI way of working with ICAI labs, where researchers and industry partners work very closely on topics that are of high importance for the industry partner(s). This specific consortium and proposal comes from ICAI and is a proposal for a 10 year project in close relation to the industry in the Netherlands.

The project manager will be working closely with the researchers, business developers, industry partners and internal departments to build the full proposal. After the first year of building the consortium and full proposal, if the proposal is granted and following a positive evaluation of performance, the project manager could remain as the project manager for the start and execution of the project.

What are you going to do

The Faculty of Science has a student body of around 7,000, as well as 1,600 members of staff working in education, research or support services. Researchers and students at the Faculty of Science are fascinated by every aspect of how the world works, be it elementary particles, the birth of the universe or the functioning of the brain.

As the department of project management we are responsible for the day to day management of all externally funded research projects which are coordinated by the Faculty of Science. Our department continuously runs several projects at the same time and assists project leaders in acquiring new projects under their lead.

We are highly flexible in operating in both current running projects and in the constant acquisition rounds of proposals with external funders, mainly the European Commission, but also Dutch national funding agencies like NWO and RVO/ministries. We are highly service oriented towards the scientific staff, willing to work under pressure and always working towards solutions.

The ICAI has the mission to keep the Netherlands at the forefront of knowledge and talent development in AI. We want to achieve this, by working together as knowledge institutions with companies, governments and non-profit, and using our strengths. There are several regions, all with very strong aspects, that we can fully focus on with AI. Amsterdam is one of the regions were researchers work together with partners in an ICAI Lab.
