UConn Innovation Project Wins AIA Excellence Award

The Innovation Partnership Building (IPB) at the University of Connecticut in Storrs is the new home of industry-leading innovation, research, and equipment.

Abbie Gregg, Inc. (AGI), an AM company, was a proud contributor to the development and growth of the project, culminating with the official grand opening in Fall 2018.

The work of the AGI team did not go unnoticed. We are proud to announce that the Innovation Partnership Building was recognized by the Connecticut chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for its superior design.

The project was one of four Excellence Award winners in the category of Commercial, Institutional, Educational, or Multi-family projects as part of the AIA Connecticut Design Awards 2018.

UConn Project Recognized for Thoughtful Design

The distinguished jury of AIA panelists awarded the Innovation Partnership Building with an Excellence Award because of its “thoughtful, organized design.”

The jury also commented that the “primarily horizontal composition is enriched through the use of varying materials, including a metal screen that adds a great texture to the composition.”

Additional recognition included the building’s “integration with the landscape elements,” including green elements inserted into the main terrace leading to the entrance.

Lastly, the jury recognized the signature color wall on building’s exterior that greets students and researchers as they enter the facility.
