**Responsibilities**

**WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:**

Manages a Team of 2-4 People, responsible for optimizing network flow revenue and supporting Yield Management with tool and process automation.

+ Serves on Yield Sr Leadership Team with Sr Director and Sr Managers.

+ Leads design of Yield Management tools and automation.

+ Assists in building Yield Management tools and automation (frequently in conjunction with the Operations Research Team).

+ Possess a thorough understanding of relevant Yield Management concepts and theories.

+ Possess an expert understanding of RM systems.

+ Possess a strong understanding of Reservations system and inventory controls.

+ Represents Yield Management in cross-Departmental Teams

+ Serve as a “thought leader” within Southwest Airlines’ operating environment, including synthesizing inventory strategies and analyses, distribution of information, action planning, and cascading goals to Teammembers.

+ Build strong working relationship with Market Team Managers in order to produce the optimal balance of local and flow traffic.

+ Build strong working relationship with Operations Research, Data Scientists, and Technology in order to lead the design of Yield Management tools and automation.

+ Understand how Pricing, Schedule, competition, and micro/macro-economic changes impact Yield Management systems and strategies, and effectively communication guidance to the Team.

+ Provide feedback to Network Planning to improve optimization of network flow traffic.

+ Translate broad direction into specific actions.

+ Generate ideas to improve revenue, including ideas to enhance existing revenue streams and ideas to create new revenue streams.

+ Generate ideas to improve efficiencies in work-flow and execution.

+ Support professional needs of direct reports; regularly review performance plans and provide 1:1 feedback, support, training and guidance on prioritization.

+ Support wide-ranging departmental objectives by collaborating with Yield Leadership colleagues to develop and implement strategic initiatives.

+ Detect and communicate potential issues to the Yield Director and the Senior Leadership Team.

+ Demonstrate significant analytical capabilities and leadership in prior work experiences.

+ Identify top talent and communicate with Senior Leadership and People Hiring and Development Leader to ensure optimal development opportunities throughout Revenue Management (across functional teams).

+ Provide Legendary Southwest Airlines internal customer service.

+ Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.

+ May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders.

**Qualifications**

**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:**

+ High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

+ Must be at least 18 years of age.

+ Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

**EDUCATION:**

+ 4-year College degree required.

+ Degree in Business, Finance, Math, Economics or related field strongly preferred.

**WORK EXPERIENCE:**

+ 5+ years of Revenue Management, Pricing, and/or Operations Research experience or equivalent required.

+ Previous Leadership experience preferred.

+ Southwest Airlines Revenue Management experience preferred.

+ Intermediate/Advanced functionality in Microsoft Excel required (reporting, modelling, light coding).

+ Airline experience preferred.

+ Intermediate/Advanced functionality in SQL experience (Teradata, Oracle, MySQL, MS Access, Alteryx), or demonstrated ability to learn SQL/other relational database required.

+ Advanced data visualization functionality experience or demonstrated ability to learn Tableau/other data visualization tools required.

+ Data Science modeling (principle component analysis, multiple regression analysis, etc) preferred.

+ Ability to train technical topics from beginner through intermediate levels.

+ Ability to create and deliver PowerPoint presentations to Sr Leadership.

+ Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships across multiple business groups.

+ Demonstrated ability to review complex data and translate to all Employee levels.

+ Certified in Six Sigma (any level) or ability to become certified early in the role.

+ Creates tracking mechanism and actively follows-up to gauge impact of actions.

+ Able to identify relevant items for communication both internally and externally without being coached by Leader.

+ Structures and writes concise communications with limited Leadership guidance.

+ Identifies project/analysis opportunities and is able to prioritize in context of other work.

+ Commences work on own and provides unsolicited checkpoints to leader on progress.

+ Has courage to make decisions with limited amount of available information.

+ Manages multiple own concurrent initiatives.

+ Maintains composure, work quality, and other skills (e.g. communication) during stressful situations.

+ Understand general pricing, capacity, connectivity, and competitive strategies and thinks strategically about executing to achieve maximum network revenue gain.

+ Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, specifically).

+ Understanding of relational databases is preferred.

+ Knowledge of SQL is preferred.

+ Knowledge of basic statistical theory and Data Science analytical techniques preferred.

+ Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
