7 finalists set for the Africa50 Innovation Challenge – Tech In Africa

Seven of 673 applicants have made it to the final shortlist of the inaugural African50 Innovation challenge. The innovation challenge was launched in May 2019, to crowdsource innovative solutions that can improve the last mile connectivity and increase access to affordable and reliable internet in underserved areas across Africa.

Fleur Tchibota, communication director at Africa50, was also pleased with the “quality and diversity” of the proposals received.

Winners will be announced in November where they shall receive cash prices. The winning teams will receive b2b matching services that connect them with new partners, integration into Africa50’s bankable projects, and pitch their solutions at Transform Africa and AfricaCom.

The winning project will be deployed as a Rwandan government backed project, from where they can scale the project to the 28 African countries that make up Africa50.
