70 Years of Innovation and Customer Service

1950 was a significant year in our nation’s history. NATO was created. The comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz was first published. And, James Dean, a teen heartthrob in the movies, got his big break doing a commercial for Pepsi.

In Chattanooga, 1950 was also a significant year. Jim Kennedy, Jr., and Sam Smartt created the company that is now Kenco Logistics, one of the most respected third-party providers in the U.S. In addition to being the largest woman-owned 3PL in North America, Kenco ranks third in the Inbound Logistics Top 10 3PLs list.

There have been many important steps in Kenco’s 70-year journey. That is why we have created this timeline showing our history and recent accomplishments that set the stage for the next phase in Kenco’s growth.
And, while much has changed for the world and Kenco in the past 70 years, what has not changed is our commitment to people – our associates, our customers, and the communities where we live and work.

When asked how Kenco has achieved so much success in the past 70 years, senior leaders of the company often answer that the primary factor has been and is today

– our people.

Our executives often note other aspects of the company’s strategic growth while reinforcing that our associates made Kenco the company we are today, and they will shape the next 70 years of innovation, creative solutions, and strong customer relationship
