Intel To Present Next-Gen CPU Roadmap & Meteor Lake “Core Ultra” Chips At Innovation 2023
Intel has confirmed to unveil its next-gen Client CPU roadmap along with the upcoming Meteor Lake “Core Ultra” chips at Innovation 2023.
Intel Client Roadmap, Meteor Lake & AI To Be The Main Agenda of 2023’s Innovation Keynote
Intel has released its schedule for Innovation 2023, where the details of specific sessions have now been detailed. With the usual briefings, this time Intel will apparently focus on “AI” with several sessions revolving around the topic. Moreover, amongst the expected briefings is the “Intel Client Hardware Roadmap and the Rise of AI”, which looks exciting judging by the title, it makes it obvious that Intel here will step up its AI “game”.
While we have covered several details surrounding the upcoming Meteor Lake lineup, for a quick recap, the new CPUs will come with a new “Core Ultra” branding. Based on details from a previous report, Intel’s 1st Gen Core Ultra CPUs will be featuring clock speeds of and beyond 5 GHz. The CPU family will utilize brand-new Redwood Cove P-Core and Crestmont E-Core architectures & get a big boost in GPU performance with the addition of Alchemist Xe-LPG iGPUs.
Meteor Lake Mobility CPU Lineup Expected Features:
- Triple-Hybrid CPU Architecture (P/E/LP-E Cores)
- Brand New Redwood Cove (P-Cores)
- Brand New Crestmont (E-Cores)
- Up To 14 Cores (6+8) For H/P Series & Up To 12 Cores (4+8) For U Series CPUs
- Intel 4 Process Node For CPU, TSMC 5nm For tGPU
- ‘Xe-MTL’ GPU With Up To 128 EUs
- Up To LPDDR5X-7467 & DDR5-5200 Support
- Up To 96 GB DDR5 & 64 GB LPDDR5X Capacities
- VPU For AI Inferencing With Atom Cores
- x8 Gen 5 Lanes For Discrete GPU (Only H-Series)
- Triple x4 M.2 Gen 4 SSD Support
- Four Thunderbolt 4 Ports
Moreover, Intel for the first time will include a dedicated VPU (Vision Processing Unit) which is a dedicated AI engine integrated into the chip which combined with additional accelerators featured on the CPU and GPU can deliver a big boost in performance. It is expected that the processors will see a huge bump in performance at AI workloads.
Intel Innovation 2023 starts on September 19th and is expected to unveil Intel’s strategy for the future.
