By creating our Digital Marketing & Ecommerce Advisory Council, we’ve been able to better understand the most pressing challenges and needs of digital marketing & ecommerce teams from a variety of businesses, which has been extremely insightful in shaping the #RICE24 agenda. To highlight our advisory council, we’ll be spotlighting each of the individual members to showcase their expertise, so be sure to follow along in our weekly blogs. This week, we’re spotlighting Kelly Cahill, VP of Marketing at Shop Premium Outlets, A Simon Digital Marketplace. She is passionate about delivering consumer experiences that inspire and enhance a consumer journey and has 15+ years in the digital field, including .com, apps, user experience, omnichannel, targeted comm channels, social platforms and overall brand marketing including brand comms and media oversight. Kelly has a great understanding of the consumer commerce experience, membership value and the digital/physical relationship. We’re thrilled to have her on the advisory council this year! Keep reading to get to know more about Kelly and her thoughts on the future of retail in the Q&A below. Retail Innovation Conference & Expo (RICE): What do you enjoy most about your role? Kelly Cahill: I really enjoy the end-to-end process of my marketing role, from conception to execution and working with my team along the way for the best channel strategies and optimization. We have a lot of fun owning the story of the growing brand. RICE: What excites you the most about the retail industry? Is there a challenge or trend you’re most excited to tackle? Cahill: The evolution of retail between physical and digital, really where my space intersects with the physical mall. I’m excited to tackle how to further the customer experience through digital experiences while physically shopping and vice versa when we can. RICE: What do you believe are the key trends shaping the future of retail? Cahill: I think the rise of personalization through data and AI at a more rapid pace. Also, connecting with the consumer where they are and knowing what they want to see and shop for next. RICE: What do you believe is the most underestimated leadership trait today? Cahill: 1. Empathy and 2. Problem solving WITH your team. RICE: What is one motto that you live by? Cahill: “Better an oops than a what if.”
