Seminar on “Huntsman Chemical Innovation Day” held at NUB

01Department of Textile Engineering, Northern University Bangladesh organized a Seminar on “Huntsman Chemical Innovation Day” on September 1st, 2019 at Prasad Tower, Banani, Dhaka. Prof. Dr. Abu Yusuf Md. Abdullah, Hon’ble Chairman, NUB Trust was present as the chief guest in the seminar. Key note speaker of the session was Engr. Hafizur Rahman Nixon, Chief Operating Officer, Swiss Colours Bangladesh and a four membered technical and sales team members from Huntsman Textile Effects, Bangladesh were present at the seminar. Prof. Dr. Engr. Md. Humaun Kabir, Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chancellor, NUB, Prof. Dr. Musharraf M. Hussain, Treasurer, Prof. Dr. Kazi Shahadat Kabir, Registrar in Charge, NUB were present as special guests during the session. Session chair was represented by Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, NUB. Respected faculties and student of the Textile Engineering Department also participated in the seminar. After the arrival of the guests and participants Prof. Dr. Engr. Md. Humaun Kabir, Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chancellor, NUB delivered welcome speech during the session. Firstly, Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chancellor spoke about the Huntsman and then gave brief introduction about the key note speaker of today’s session followed by the greetings for the participants. Key note speaker delivered brief discussion about Huntsman and their activities in the Bangladeshi market. He also spoke for the student to set their future goal and to work hard to achieve that goal.  After his speech Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, NUB spoke very briefly about the importance of dyeing in the textile sector in the perspective of our country. Following that the team members gave their presentation consecutively. Huntsman is a multipurpose company worldwide. In Bangladeshi market they work basically on textile effects and they believe on quality of the products.

02Huntsman manly focused on various sustainable dye chemicals and dye stuffs. The main goal of Huntsman is to produce and provide dye stuffs with least water consumption. They also highlight three washfast disperse dyes to meet the requirements: TERASIL® Black WW-KSN (150%) and TERASIL® Navy WW-GSN to set the industry benchmark. The revolutionary new poly-reactive dyes from Huntsman Textile called AVITERA®SE. It is a sustainable, environmentally friendly and economically beneficial product of Huntsman to help the textile sector become more sustainable. Huntsman focuses on the sustainability & eco-friendliness of their product. Presenter spoke about their cool comfort sportswear and extreme wear. The key features of this type of wear that they produce least friction with body and help evaporating sweats. Extreme wear featured with the water repellent properties and can sustain in extreme environment like hiking. Floor was open to the students for asking questions. Key note speaker and his team delightfully answer all the questions asked by the student. Abu Yousuf (Julias), Sales Leader, Huntsman Textile Effects-Bangladesh present brief description on some of the Huntsman innovative products. Lastly Mr. Lefayet Sultan Lipol, Asst. Professor & Head (Acting), Dept. of Textile Engineering, NUB and concluded such a wonderful session.
