New OnePlus TV image shows off kevlar back, highlights premium design – Technology News

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has been teasing different aspects about the upcoming OnePlus TV off late. Last week, Lau shared an image of the OnePlus TV remote, which revealed a very Apple TV remote-like design with a premium metal body and minimal features. Now, the OnePlus CEO has posted yet another image, which seems to reveal the back of the OnePlus TV in a kevlar finish.

The OnePlus TV image shared by Lau this week is a little harder to describe as it doesn’t give us a full picture. What we can see is a portion of the back in a smooth kevlar finish, which is something we have seen on the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition before. There’s a slight curvature to the back and we don’t see any ports vents in that area. The back is attached to what looks like a metal-clad stand.

The stand looks like it will come attached with the OnePlus TV, or it may be offered separately as most other TV manufacturers do. Lau is trying to highlight that the company is paying a lot of attention to detail when it comes to designing the OnePlus TV by using premium materials. It’s not only about offering a 55-inch QLED display on the front, but how high-end and seamless the OnePlus TV looks from all sides.

OnePlus has made it clear that the OnePlus TV will be competing against the likes of Samsung, Sony and LG in the top-tier TV segment. To that effect, the company has been teasing some premium features about the OnePlus TV, and we expect to see more in the days leading up to its launch in India.

OnePlus TV is expected to launch in the country sometime this month. It will be running on the Android TV platform and will come with features like Google Assistant, Chromecast and Play Store services, among other things. The OnePlus TV will be sold on Amazon India and likely via offline retail partners as well.
