TCS Invites Applications from School Students for Ignite Innovation Student Challenge, Winner to Receive $10,000DATAQUEST

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Discovery Education have launched the second edition of the Ignite Innovation Student Challenge. The Challenge has invited online applications from students in grades six to eight to submit proposals on using computational thinking to create digital solutions that improve the world and solve problems impacting TCS’ three social responsibility pillars: Our Planet, Health, and Education.

The students are required to present their digital solutions through 1 to a maximum of 2 minute video entries that can be submitted by 9 April 9 2020. The winner will receive a $10,000 scholarship and a virtual mentorship with TCS team members and partners.

Guidelines of the TCS Ignite Innovation Student Challenge

TCS’ Ignite Innovation Student Challenge was launched in 2018 for students from grades 6 to 8, or at least 10 years old, to connect computational thinking strategies and real-world problem solving. To take part in the same, students are required to do the following:

1.       Share an idea for a digital solution, like a mobile app, website, robot, or wearable tech.

2.       Form a team of four or singularly define a problem that can be solved through digital innovation in the areas of health, our planet, or education.

3.       The idea needs to be communicated through a 1-2-minute video that addresses how the digital solution will improve the world and the computational thinking strategies that were used to guide to the solution.

First place winner will receive $10,000 scholarship as well as a virtual mentorship with TCS employees and the chance to work with TCS to materialize their idea; top entries in health, our planet and education will receive $7500 scholarships; and six entries will receive $1000 scholarships.

“TCS is committed to preparing the next generation of young innovators by providing resources to foster their creativity so they can find solutions to societal challenges,” said Balaji Ganapathy, head of workforce effectiveness, TCS. “We’re excited to see the fresh ideas, spirit and innovation that come out of this year’s Ignite Innovation Student Challenge.”
