Pakistani Professor Ahmed Chan Wins International Technology Innovation Award
Syed Ahmed Chan Bukhari, a US-based Pakistani professor, has been presented the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering’s (IEEE) Technology Innovation Award for his work in the standardization of biomedical data.
Syed Ahmed Chan, who is currently serving as Program Director Healthcare Informatics at the Saint John’s University of New York, hails from Gujrat, Pakistan.
Professor Bukhari taught Computer Science at the University of Gujrat from 2008 to 2010. He then moved abroad for higher studies where he completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of New Brunswick, Canada.
Dr. Bukhari, who has also served in prestigious universities like Yale and Stanford, was delighted to get recognition from a renowned organization.
I am grateful to the IEEE for honoring me with this award. To be recognized by such a prestigious organization is both an honor and a great responsibility.
His accomplishment was also acknowledged by the Dean and Distinguished Chair of the Lesley H. and William L. Collins College of Professional Studies, a subsidiary of St. Johns.
Katia Passerini says that during his first couple of months, Dr. Chan has already made massive strides in the healthcare information and data science.
“In a concise time since joining St. John’s University, Dr. Bukhari has already engaged students in research activities and published four competitive articles,” Dr. Passerini added.
Speaking of his plans at St. Johns, Dr. Bukhari said he wanted to create and cultivate a research culture at the varsity in the field of healthcare information.
I want them to discover and invent new things. That is my inspiration.
