Nigerian innovation hubs plan to sponsor projects to curb the spread of coronavirus in Africa
Two innovation hubs, Co-creation Hub (CcHub) and Ventures Platform Hub are working on reducing the spread of the coronavirus in Nigeria by sponsoring innovative projects and solutions. Lagos-based, CcHub is ready to fund and provide research and design support through its Design Lab, to any coronavirus related project.
According to CcHub, the company is working on providing between $5,000 to $100,000 for projects that are focused on communication, aiding the infected and most vulnerable people in the society, local production of essential medical supplies, and support for food value chain from producers to consumers if movement limitations become a reality.
Abuja-based Ventures Platform founder, Kola Aina, on the other hand, also said plans are underway to provide workspace, mentorship, and a $1,000 grant for the first five projects the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) accepts.
Kola simply wrote on Twitter, “The projects will be around reporting, tracing, or anything else that helps in our fight against COVID-19.”
