New Award in Innovation announced
The Irish Medical Times have added a special award to this year’s Irish Healthcare Awards to recognise some of the innovation and adaptation that has taken place over the last year.
“This is the first award I’ve ever seen that was demand-driven,” said IMT Editor Terence Cosgrave.
“We have had a host of enquiries asking about innovation, innovative approaches and ideas, new projects, equipment and treatment so we felt we had to introduce an award for this work which we don’t believe the other awards cover.”
The Innovation Award is being introduced to recognise innovation in healthcare that increases efficiency in delivery, improves patient outcomes, reduces costs or procedures, or introduces a new and effective service, treatment, or system that improves patient care.
There have also been a lot of ad hoc responses to the Covid-19 pandemic that are exceptional – some will only address Covid issues, but others will become a regular part of the health service and will outlast the pandemic.
“We feel that even though it is quite late for accepting entries, there are already enough enquiries and potential entries to make this quite a competitive category and we want to give the people behind these projects the chance of recognition – and possible wider adaptation of their innovations, so for those reasons, we’ve decided to add this award to the 2021 list.”
The deadline for entre for awards for the 2021 Irish Healthcare Awards has been extended to July 31st, so there is still time to get your entries together.
The Awards will be presented at a Gala ceremony and presentation in the Autumn.
