TEKsystems ‘works backward’ to help orgs achieve innovation and growth – SiliconANGLE

With data being the lifeblood of many enterprises, a detailed approach is necessary for better decision-making that optimizes customer satisfaction.

For the past two years, the full-stack integration partnership between TEKsystems Inc. and 1Strategy, a TEKsystems company, has offered competencies such as data and analytics, DevOps, security, migration and machine learning when it comes to cloud transformation at scale with a laser focus on AWS, according to Ted Swinyar (pictured, left), director of solutions at 1Strategy.

“Customers are just drowning in data … how they’re able to leverage AWS from a technology standpoint to build a data strategy has to be married with that data-driven culture,” Swinyar explained. “That investment in your team, like enablement training [and] having a solid foundation and an ability to move toward an agile approach, is becoming more and more critical for our customers.”

Swinyar and Jay Mozo (pictured, right), chief principal practice architect for transformation services at TEKsystems Inc., spoke with David Nicholson, host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, during AWS re:Invent. They discussed how the TEKsystems and 1Strategy partnership maximizes AWS execution and the “working backwards” approach. (* Disclosure below.)

Incorporating the ‘working backward’ mentality

With 475 different kinds of instances available from AWS, TEKsystems uses the “working backward” approach so that each solution suits the customers’ needs, from serverless to container options, according to Swinyar.

“The idea for every engagement is always focused on what the outcome for the customer is at the end of the day and work backwards from that,” he said. “So depending on whether they’re focused on an ML workload or focused on a more business line application, working backwards to understand what is the outcome they’re trying to drive and then building the right technology stack.”

Helping a customer understand their value stream prompts business and delivery agility. This is fundamental when applying the working backward strategy, because it helps join the dots, according to Mozo.

“We jump to understanding where they are in their journey with their value stream,” Mozo pointed out. “We then craft those things in partnership with our customer, because they might have things going on in their organization that lean towards GCP for some things and AWS for other things.”

With the presence of a multicloud world, Swinyar believes that what looks like normal data today would have been alien to some businesses two years ago as more data continues streaming from customers at a faster rate.

“There’s no exact match between customer and customer; it’s all about understanding where they are, how we can help them get to the next step,” Swinyar stated.

Bringing people together and empowering them with data makes companies more flexible and powerful, Swinyar added.

“We meet our customers where they are, and we work side-by-side with them to transform their business,” Mozo concluded.
