Making Every User of Ours an Innovation & Hybrid Learning Leader: OrangeSlates
1. What are the changes you see in the e-learning industry trends with the ongoing pandemic over the last two years?
– The pandemic jumpstarted innovation in the edtech sector. We have been seeing innovation in e-learning but the pandemic supercharged innovation in the areas of online proctoring, creating virtual groups and also in the field of data based individualized learning plans. I believe this trend is going to get stronger now with Hybrid models and fully online models being something which stakeholders in the education ecosystem have begun as a way of learning. What I am really excited about is moving further with AI to leverage a child’s natural curiosity and create a unique learning path for the child with facilitators supporting it – using technology to create immersive learning experiences.
2. While most of the businesses are up for transforming their business model and digital footprint, many of them face challenges in seamless execution and overall success. What are the best practices you would suggest to curb these challenges?
– In our experience what has worked is a simple activity of keeping the two teams separate. What works is the innovation team being given a clean slate to work on the digital part. What that means is, if you want to transform your existing business into a digital space, build a team for it. Any digital startup will not carry the brick and mortar baggage so why should your company’s innovators carry the same. Also this will have to be led by you- the head of the organization. So apart from running business as usual, you will spend an overwhelming amount of time on this rather than running the existing business. While this is not easy, the price to be paid otherwise is extremely high.
3. How does OrangeSlates add value to the digital journey of businesses and enhance their overall customer experience?
– As we are in the education space, we support schools and educational institutions in their transformation. Our belief is if we can create an ecosystem for the schools to transform into a digital center of excellence, we would impact millions of children. We are constantly working with all the stakeholders in the educational institutions for transforming not only the processes and systems but also working on removing the fear which is inherent in this kind of transformation. Our programs are making the educators future ready and the institutions world class.
4. How are you leveraging new-age technologies in offering support, insights, logistics, and supply chain to the company and your customers?
– As we are a service company, the area which we leverage the most is data. Our ability to support the educators from various schools, in terms of letting them identify their gaps and work on it themselves without making too much fuss about it nor making them feel afraid their jobs would be on the line. We also bring in global best practices and deliver it to even the remotest parts of Asia. This makes our learners at par with the teachers of the most developed nations.
5. Please talk about your recent business achievements in terms of business expansion, revenue growth, and customer acquisition.
– We are really pleased to share that we have over 25000 educators on our platform. We recently conducted a learnfest for teachers which was attended by over 9000 teachers from across India. This was the largest such event which was designed for teachers and delivered by teachers themselves. We are looking to add about 100000 users over the course of the next few quarters.
With respect to revenues, we are looking at doubling quarter on quarter and have our plans in place to deliver that.
6. Please talk about your top-5 focus areas over the next 12-18 months.
– What we are focussing on are the following:
- Making every user of ours an innovation and Hybrid learning leader
- Bring in global institutions and organizations who are in Teacher education and education leadership
- Expand our footprints geographically
- Provide holistic support to our users in not only learning but in the execution of their plan in schools
- Look at next generation of tools which can help impact learning
7. How do you see the customer expectations driving the e-learning industry over the next couple of years?
– I think what we have shown parents and other stakeholders, especially in the Edtech industry, is what is possible in learning. What we now need to do is marry this ability to deliver real life experiences for children so that the child gets to be experiencing a lot of the learning they are getting in their physical world too. I do think the concept of metaverse might be something in which education would be the first to reach and create unique experiences in.
