Morris College Partners with Blaze Fire Games to Unveil New Innovation Technology Laboratory
The state of the art laboratory will be used for gaming, creating and designing video games, cybersecurity, hack testing, and more. Morris College will have an official grand opening of the Innovation Technology Laboratory in the spring of 2023.
“Everyone is excited. We feel that this addition is starting a new path for Morris – number one, providing not only access to new and innovative things, but giving our students a path to complete their degrees. One of the things we’re looking at is this is just a start. We hope to end this with a degree program within another year,” Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Louis Graham said.
The Innovation Technology Laboratory is located on the second floor of the Wilson Booker Science Building. It consists of 42 machines built by Power GPU. 10 of the machines have a greater speed and are optimized to be competition machines for the college’s E-Sports competition team. The other 32 machines are for club and recreational use for the campus. The computers are loaded with micro credentialing for students or those in the community who want to further themselves in their workforce.
It cost Morris College between $300,000 and $400,000 to create the Innovation Technology Laboratory. This is one of largest projects for Morris College this academic year.
