Accelerating Make in India Intel IT Hardware Gear Up Domestic Manufacturing Innovation

The Indian ecosystem is gearing up for technological advancements and opportunities to be explored in driving excellence across the IT value chain. The focus has shifted to ‘Brand India’ for India and the world. Intel India, on Thursday, showcased an extensive range of domestically manufactured laptops and IT products at the India Tech Ecosystem Summit in New Delhi. The summit convened numerous local manufacturers, presenting a diverse portfolio of locally designed and produced devices. This initiative reaffirmed Intel’s commitment to fostering technology-led growth in sync with the Make in India initiative by the government. It featured the debut of Mega Networks’ locally manufactured server, fueled by the 4th generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors, along with C-DAC’s high-performance compute server, Rudra. More than 25 innovative products, such as Banking on Wheels, Thin Clients, All-in-One Clients, and multi-function kiosks, were showcased, providing a comprehensive glimpse into the varied spectrum of Make in India solutions crafted by over 10 original design manufacturers (ODMs), original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and other ecosystem contributors. “The dynamic landscape of electronic manufacturing in India not only signifies a promising journey characterised by growth and diversification but also presents a huge opportunity. They then focused on a decade-long commitment to green building certification, emphasising achievements in energy and water reduction. Leadership dedication, employee integration, and ambitious sustainability targets, such as net zero by 2045, were highlighted. Financial considerations were acknowledged, urging a strategic, long-term investment mindset. The need for a sustainability-oriented shift at both individual and organisational levels was stressed, along with the importance of global partnerships to expand sustainability efforts. India’s electronics manufacturing industry stands at an exciting crossroads, with an array of opportunities on the horizon. Another discussion delved into key success factors for creating quality products in Brand India, emphasising consumer understanding, trust-building through quality and pricing, and collaborations with Intel. Insights were shared on designing products for the Indian context, addressing challenges in manufacturing, and the importance of certifications. The potential of Indian solutions in tackling global challenges, particularly through Industry 4.0 technologies, was highlighted. Examples were provided, such as using AI for traffic management.
