A&O Takes Its Fuse Innovation Space to Singapore – Artificial Lawyer

Global law firm, Allen & Overy, is to host a Fuse AsiaWeek in Singapore from 12 to 16 November, building on the success of the innovation space in its London headquarters.

The firm said that Fuse AsiaWeek will bring together Fuse members with early-stage Singapore-based start-ups, government representatives and clients.

The aim is to help the local market to learn, discuss and leverage new opportunities to advance their tech agenda, said the firm.

Singapore has been unusual in that the country as a whole has embarked on a nationwide drive for the modernisation of its legal sector with initiatives such as the FLIP project.

Three AI companies from Fuse with specialisms from document management, automated contract platforms, to document review, will be part of the A&O event in Singapore.

Some of the companies currently part of Fuse include:

  • Kira Systems
  • Neota Logic
  • Avvoka
  • Regnosys – a fintech company which leverages the open source to deliver “machine executable regulation” and drive radical change in the financial industry’s approach to regulatory compliance.
  • Signal Media – an AI-powered intelligence firm turning information into accessible, actionable business knowledge. Artificial Intelligence is applied to millions of content-rich sources – from news media to global regulatory updates – driving insight and helping businesses manage the risks and opportunities they face.

Allen & Overy partner Tim Beech said: ‘Many of the financial institutions and corporations we have spoken with are enthusiastic about Fuse AsiaWeek, which brings to the forefront the challenges they face, together with innovative technologists and the capabilities of a global law firm to find solutions.’

Celia Sia, Director, Professional Services Programme Office, Economic Development Board in Singapore, concluded: ‘We are delighted that Allen & Overy has decided to organise Fuse AsiaWeek in Singapore. This complements our efforts to be at the forefront of technology and innovation in the legal sector. Fuse AsiaWeek will present exciting opportunities for the international and local community to collaborate and exchange ideas.’
