In a landmark move set to reshape the Web3 landscape, Astar Network Group, represented by Stake Technologies Pte. Ltd., and Startale Labs Pte. Ltd., both headquartered in Singapore, have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KDDI Corporation, a major telecommunications operator headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo. The agreement paves the way for a collaborative exploration of Web3 technologies, with a particular focus on the integration of blockchain technology, NFTs, and the development of new customer experiences.

Unleashing the Power of Web3

The MoU, which was formalized on October 24, 2023, marks a significant milestone in the Web3 domain, reflecting the shared vision of the companies to accelerate the societal implementation of blockchain technology. The collaboration will also aim to create innovative and immersive customer experiences in the burgeoning Web3 era. Key areas of discussion under the MoU include:

1. Exploring NFTs and Web3 Products: The companies will collaborate to create novel customer experiences through the development of NFTs and Web3 products.

2. Utilizing Astar zkEVM: The integration of “Astar zkEVM powered by Polygon” within the “αU market” and “αU wallet” offered by KDDI will be explored, potentially ushering in new opportunities and services.

3. Enhancing “αU Wallet”: Discussions will revolve around the identification of uses and services that are compatible with “αU wallet.”

4. New Business Opportunities: The MoU will outline the potential for innovative business ventures harnessing token technology.

Shun Ishikawa, Director of Stake Technologies (Astar Network), expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We believe that the recognition of our newly introduced “Astar zkEVM powered by Polygon”, an Ethereum layer 2 solution by Astar Network, by KDDI Corporation, a major domestic telecommunications operator with significant influence in the content field, and αU, is a testament to the high expectations for Astar zkEVM and the strong reputation Astar Network has built both domestically and internationally.”

Ishikawa went on to elaborate that within the Astar zkEVM ecosystem, businesses can harness world-class tools to craft services that not only leverage Ethereum’s capabilities but also ensure a superior user experience, minimal fees, and swift transactions. He emphasized the synergy between Astar Network and KDDI Corporation, along with αU, both prioritizing a user-centric approach in platform and content creation. Looking ahead, the vision is to foster novel customer experiences through collaborative endeavors with αU and the exploration of Web3 content.

Sota Watanabe, CEO of Startale Labs, echoed the sentiment, saying, “Startale Labs is genuinely pleased to deepen our collaboration using the Astar Network ecosystem with αU provided by KDDI Corporation, leveraging Astar zkEVM. Taking advantage of what KDDI Corporation, a company that has provided tremendous trust and reassurance in Japan’s telecommunications business, has cultivated over the years.”
