AWARD REWARDS HAMPTON STEEL INNOVATION Hampton Steel has once again been recognised for their innovative approach at the recent Wellingborough Chamber of Commerce Industry Awards. Managing Director Mark Johnson commented: “This award is a celebration of Hampton Steel’s contribution to manufacturing and employment in Wellingborough and is further recognition of the strategic foresight of our stakeholders and the tireless efforts and an unwavering commitment of our team to deliver outstanding products and service to our customers. Hampton Steel’s journey started over 30 years ago and has involved investment in state-of-the- art machinery and the integration of the latest technologies into their production processes. “Our many landmarks include installation of the first machine in the UK capable of making guaranteed 500 metre rolls of agricultural hinge joint fencing, two at a time. “We also utilise the first machine of its kind in Europe capable of producing fixed knot fencing in 500 metre rolls, again two at a time. These highly technical machines can weave wires of various diameters and tensile strengths into a wide variety of patterns, designed to meet a wide range of customers’ needs. “Hampton’s in-house engineering and technical skill base has been developed to such a high level that the firm is now able to import machinery from the other side of the world and install it themselves. “Some years ago we purchased Betafence’s UK agricultural fencing business together with famous names which included Sentinel and Rylock®, the name for Hampton’s range of longer life green passivate painted wire fencing products. “Hampton also developed Versalok®, an award winning intermediate steel post and clip system which works with any pattern of woven wire fencing. Versalok® is a 100% recyclable and an incredibly durable option that’s guaranteed for 30 years and provides a superior, longer lasting alternative to timber posts. “Also Srainerlok our own design and patented metal fencing strainer post system that is compatible with Versalok® and which is also 100% recyclable and guaranteed for 30 years. “The combination of these two products offers such a versatile and easy to use metal fence post solution that is specified for installation alongside the UK’s 20,000 miles of rail track. Strainerlok® was granted an innovation award at the prestigious Royal Highland Show. “What truly distinguishes Hampton Steel is the way in which these milestones have been reached; the company’s inventive approaches, forward-thinking strategies and commitment to its corporate responsibilities and local community have all combined to establish Hampton as a fencing system manufacturer in a very competitive world. This Chamber of Commerce award is well deserved,” said Mark Johnson.
