Case #1 Jomfrustien Innovation Lab

Case #1 – August 15-19

Jomfrustien, Innovation Lab

Jomfrustien – The main street of Haderslev city

Climate adaption and urban development.

Challenge: You can contribute with solutions for a more vibrant, cohesive and attractive development of the area made up by Jomfrustien and its surroundings.

Case: In the western part of Denmark, in close proximity to the German boarder lies the city of Haderslev. ‘Jomfrustien’ is a central path cutting through Haderslev and is the main connection between Haderslev Harbour and the historic city centre.

The area around ‘Jomfrustien’ is frequently visited by locals and visitors, and now a major climate adaptation and development project seek to create a better connection between the two neighbourhoods.

‘Jomfrustien’ translates into “The Path of Virgins’. This strange name originates from a time when young ladies were referred to as virgins and this main path of Haderslev was an attractive place to take your virgin for a stroll.
