Located in Hyderabad, the lab will serve as a Proof of Concept (POC) setup for AWS customers to test their apps and environment for performance on AWS Outposts, a fully managed and integrated service that offers AWS infrastructure and services, application programming interfaces (APIs), and tools to virtually any data centre, co-location space, or on-premises facility for a hybrid experience.

The lab is expected to help cloud-aspirant businesses to accelerate their digital transformation journey by building, managing, and scaling their on-premises applications using AWS services and tools. With the lab being in an advanced stage of commencing operations, customers can start reaching out to the partners now.

The AWS Outposts Innovation Lab is the first-of-its-kind in India and will enable companies across industry verticals including banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI), media, government, oil & gas, and pharmaceuticals & healthcare, leverage the lab’s capabilities to validate their workloads and develop reference architectures on AWS Outposts hosted in Cloud4C premises.

Bringing together synergies

AWS Outposts is powered by Intel Xeon Scalable processors with built-in AI acceleration specifically designed for scalable and low-latency data flow across both cloud environments and the intelligent edge. Intel is collaborating with AWS to drive consumption of the lab’s offerings and Cloud4C is leveraging its position as an AWS Partner to test and deliver AWS Outposts migration across the globe.

Vikas Bakshi, senior vice president, Cloud4C, told Telangana Today in an exclusive interview, “Banking (including neobanks), telecom, internet service providers, manufacturing, healthcare, medical diagnostics and imaging, government and public sector, media and entertainment, and other industries will gain from this lab. A lot of customers want to test their applications and this lab will make it happen. The lab will not only address what Indian customers want to do in India, but globally. We are looking at a wider range of use cases. We will also have NDAs with customers/organisations to assure them of confidentiality, allowing even competitors from the same industry to use the lab’s services.”

Enabling cloud migration

Akanksha Bilani, regional alliance head, Asia Pacific & Japan, Intel said, “Cloud migration requires rigorous planning and senior leadership alignment. The ability to test performance before going live is a significant step in accelerating the decision to migrate. Any customer, partner or an organisation can take advantage of the lab. It is open to all industries. Intel will bring its computing capability and domain expertise to the lab, through this collaboration.”

She further added, “AWS Outposts is a key part of the AWS hybrid cloud strategy, and the innovation lab will act as a test bed for applications. Along with Cloud4C, we will help customers solve business challenges through hybrid cloud experience. We have a long-term association with AWS and Cloud4C to help support our customers and partners. We do not have any such innovation labs anywhere else in the world. So, the Hyderabad lab becomes unique. We hope to cater to national business needs first, and based on the experiences, we will look to cater to global needs.”

Bakshi said there will be a dedicated team of specialists who will work at the lab to meet the needs across infrastructure, security, and network. Cloud4C will take advantage of its domain/industry expertise. When asked what made the partners choose Hyderabad for the lab, he said, “We are headquartered in Hyderabad, and we have a lot of talent pool in the city. The city is also seismically safe and meets compliance for banking and government customers.”
