Delivering Innovation in Inspection Data Mobility with ALS’s InFIR

Today’s digital age is reshaping industries and within this reshaping, disrupting the conventional approaches that have long been considered standard practice.

ALS operate on a continuous improvement framework which is grounded in their service quality commitment.

With this framework ubiquitous, the ALS Industrial team are endlessly exploring development opportunities to progress operational excellence and heighten the client experience.

This focus saw the recent adoption of their Infield Inspection and Reporting System (InFIR) – a solution which refined existing data capture and reporting practices with a particular focus on traceability and approval processes.

The demand for this point-of-inspection reporting is being seen by clients across industries, and whilst beneficial for all, adopters in the mining industry are experiencing maximum return-on-investment.

Offering client-centric reporting where digitisation occurs at the point of inspection, has been an industry-wide focus, directed by the effort to make data management as reliable and efficient as possible in this digital age.

Linked with increased efficiency and end-to-end traceability, digitalisation at the inspection point for their mining clients has made standardised reporting possible, even when needed across wide geographical locations.

ALS Technical Authority – Australasia, Colin Braganza, shared “that in a data saturated world it is imperative that reliable data reaches end users quickly. Point of inspection data collection not only significantly reduces human error, but enables a high level of integrity, throughput and consistency through the work process.

“The flow-on benefits of digital data capture include better resourcing capability, complete workflow transparency to rapidly mitigate bottlenecks and easy retrieval of good data history for asset integrity analysis.”

Post-implementation, ALS’s InFIR system has driven report quality and improved time-to-insight turnaround for clients.

Whether exploring from an improved visibility or quality outlook, InFIR has supported ALS to surpass internal performance targets and externally, to improve the client experience.

Developed with a future-facing outlook, InFIR will remain an integral element of ALS’s inspection data mobility practices and will continue to support ongoing development in-line with the demands of this digital age.

With the pace of digitalisation in the mining sector predicted to accelerate in the coming years, ALS will continue evolving their system to provide a best-in-market reporting solution.

When it comes to inspection reporting, both the quality and turnaround of this reporting is priority, and their systems are continually undergoing improvements to better provide traceability and standardisation.

As of mid-2021, all InFIR reporting has been automatically released into ALS’s online asset centric document management system – meaning superior access for all clients. These inspection results are available within the portal in an asset centric structure to allow easy reference against historical data for all clients.

Developed with future-facing outlook, InFIR will be an integral element of their inspection data mobility processes going forward and will support the digital evolution for ALS’s Mining East team and the wider Industrial business.
