Does Creativity scale? How ‘bout Innovation? — Instigate.ai
We’ve seen revisionist, contrarian ideas get “wished” into existence w/ #TrumpVirus and science deniers. We’ve seen acqui-hires come and go, Unicorns tube, criminals get arrested and Robinhood stampedes.
The world of software helps drive the world today. When software crashes, shit hits the fan. When truly innovative software is published, people’s lives change.
My (almost) 40 years of being in the software ecosystem has taught me one thing — fate is as much a motivator or underlying inspiration for Innovation — as anything else.
There’s no Magic sauce, secret handshake or listicle of key talking points — in innovative thinking.
finTech is still a thing, eCommerce is still growing, home delivervies are now “a thing”, as is AR/VR, blockchain and edTech. Everyone’s still plugging away looking for funding for their great American startup — even if they came from Nairobi and live in Amsterdam.
The global marketplace for travel, sports or fashion may be flummoxed and “Coronaed” — but the virtual world of software driven startups just got a WFH steroid injection — and we’re about to see a doubling of the world’s startups — in the next 18–24 months.
Everybody and his mother (and auntie) will want to go work for a software startup — and wannabee ecosystems around the world will promise these entrepreneurs “the world” — to get them to lay roots in their local town or region.
That doesn’t make their conspiracy theories, delusionary claims or misinformation — the truth.
What those local politicos don’t realize is that offices are so — OVER! WFH is going to change EVERYTHING and luckily for us — we’re all ready for that!
Creativity scales really nicely when there are 10’s of millions of startups looking for customer service, sales, marketing assistants and shipping office workers. Creativity scales really nicely when local software startups need to expand globally, but can’t afford to open up offices.
Creativity scales really well when you’re WFH and you happen to be disabled or aged 67. Or a Mom returning to work — after your kids have all grown up. Creativity is fairly religion, gender or race agnostic. Creativity is certainly location agnostic.
Software companies (even if they’re virtual) love having employees doing things — when they can afford to pay them. Software companies will make their money in LOTS of different ways we can’t even imagine today. That’s where Innovation comes in.
What we’re looking for is the right innovation that can put people to work. Providing the human element in an extremely optimized and efficient algorithmically based world will keep humans employed. Creative humans will be even more desired.
