EauVation innovation gets operators thinking about bottle hygiene

Sustainable filtered water systems brand EauVation has got operators thinking about bottle cleanliness after unveiling an integrated system that sterilises, fills and delivers bottled water this week.

The company – which is owned by warewashing manufacturer Classeq – believes the ‘industry first’ will be a hit with customers that want to know bottles are hygienically cleaned inside before being refilled.

It has been demonstrating the HydreauBar system at the Casual Dining Show over the last two days and, according to sales director Nick Burridge, it attracted significant interest from larger sites that could see the benefits in terms of efficiencies and savings.

He told FEJ: “If you just put the empty bottles in a standard glasswash rack, the jet of the glasswasher is never going to get inside the bottle because the neck is so narrow, so you can never guarantee that the inside of it is washed. This is the only system on the market that will sterilise the inside of the bottle.”

Users simply need to invert the bottles and place within the sterilisation section, where a liquid is propelled into the bottle eradicating microbial organisms on internal surfaces not achieved by washing alone, thereby completely removing all traces of any bacteria before re-filling them.

The UK-made product comes in both a free-standing and under-counter format and fits into any standard kitchen design. The free-standing version can fill six bottles a minute – 360 an hour – and the under-counter system can deliver 100 bottles an hour.

Mr Burridge said the company designed the system after feedback from the growing number of hospitality firms that are using freshly filtered water as an alternative to single-use plastics.

He said: “It is very difficult to get people to wash the bottles in the first place. So we just wanted to create something that is simple and convenient as opposed to putting them in a glasswasher and then having to let them cool down before refilling them with the chilled water.”

EauVation supplies its bottled water systems to a growing range of high-end restaurants, hotels and casual dining chains such as Gourmet Burger Kitchen.

EauVation marketing manager, Adam Lenton, added: “We believe the HydreauBar system is set to revolutionise the use of water in high volume establishments. It takes away all the hassle, and saves both time and resource.”
