In her opening keynote at TRANSPORT Smart Class, North of England 2021, TfGM’s Head of Strategic Planning, Insight and Innovation, Nicola Kane, discussed the different ways in which Greater Manchester is innovating to deliver the vision set out in its Greater Manchester Transport Strategy for 2040 and to enable the conurbation to recover from the COVID19 pandemic whilst tackling inequalities and transport emissions. Nicola’s presentation covered all aspects of GM’s innovation agenda, from mobility hubs, shared micromobility, EVs and CAVs; through to using AI and 5G technology to support social distancing and better manage our transport system. Featured projects and use cases included the Salford Autonomous Vehicle Trials, e-Scooter Trials in Rochdale Town Centre and at University of Salford/Media City, e-Cargo Bikes in Ancoats, Chorlton and Whalley Range, Car Club BEVs and more!
