EQUIP AUTO Lyon 2023 unveils Tyre and Innovation Village: Celebrating the Past and Shaping the Future of Tyres

EQUIP AUTO Lyon 2023 is set to showcase the remarkable journey of tyres at its upcoming event, featuring the all-new Tyre and Innovation Village. In collaboration with the French Tyre Association (Syndicat du Pneu), the renowned automotive aftersales and connected mobility services expo will bring together key players from the tyre sector. The event will take place from September 28-30, 2023, at Eurexpo Lyon.

‘With the electrification of the vehicle fleet, tyres are becoming a keystone in the aftermarket and beginning to attract the attention of an increasing number of professionals.’

Dominique Stempfel, Chairman of the French Tyre Association

The Tyre and Innovation Village will unite tyre manufacturers, distributors, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), as well as equipment and accessory manufacturers. The focal point of the Village will be the exclusive exhibition titled “The tyre has a history, the tyre has a future,” showcasing over a century of technological advancements in the tyre industry. From the earliest models dating back to 1888 to futuristic mobility concepts, visitors will have a unique opportunity to engage with prominent manufacturers and industry leaders attending the show.

The exhibition will take participants on a captivating journey through the evolution of the pneumatic tyre, which has continuously evolved since its invention in 1888. The display will highlight dimensional changes, tread designs, and groundbreaking technologies, providing insights into the tire manufacturing process.

Recognizing the significance of tyres in the aftermarket and service sectors, EQUIP AUTO and the French Tyre Association have expanded the exhibition to include displays on upcoming market innovations and future tyre concepts. With a focus on safety and environmental consciousness, tyres are viewed as essential products rather than mere loss leaders in the aftermarket.

Dominique Stempfel, Chairman of the French Tyre Association, emphasizes the increasing attention tyres are receiving due to the electrification of vehicle fleets and changing market dynamics. The Tyre & Innovation Village presents an exciting opportunity to explore both current and future tyres, unveiling new commercial solutions that align with ecological and geopolitical constraints.

“With the electrification of the vehicle fleet, tyres are becoming a keystone in the aftermarket and beginning to attract the attention of an increasing number of professionals. They must accompany the changing face of the market, and cater to new ecological and geopolitical constraints. New innovative commercial solutions are emerging. A visit to the Tyre & Innovation Village is an exciting opportunity to discover both the tyres and the market of the future,” says Stempfel.

Additionally, a talk on “Tyre focus; Innovation, energy transition and ecology” featuring industry professionals will be held on Tuesday, September 28. Numerous leading companies have already registered to exhibit at EQUIP AUTO Lyon, including Michelin, Goodyear, Pirelli, and Falken Tyres, among others.
