Farago the Label unveils 100% biodegradable swimwear line | Fashion Innovation News UK
One way of minimising the environmental impact using sustainable methods of production is to incorporate eco-friendly and biodegradable materials to make the clothes.
Farago the Label, a young swimwear brand based in UK, has pursued the same path to produce a 100 per cent biodegradable swimwear line.
Started by the reality star Francesca Farago, who featured in a recent Netflix series, she describes her brand as the opposite of fast fashion. Her strong belief in vegan fashion was the reason she thought of starting her own label.
Made of biodegradable nylon, which is a polyamide obtained from natural fats and oils, the swimwear line uses their proprietary ‘Polyamide 6.6’ technology which allows the garments to decompose fully in 3 to 6 months.
The production process is also ensured to be eco-friendly as their manufacturing units based in Brazil use recycled water instead of fresh water for processing. Leftover fabrics are used into making beds that are donated to local shelters in Brazil.
The swimwear line itself is a youth-centric line with bikini tops, bottoms and one piece swim suits, all of which are available in muted tones of burgundy, aqua-mint, beige, black and navy from size XS all the way to XL.
Two variants of tops, Punta and Lucia, are priced at US $ 70 and US $ 80, respectively, while bottoms with similar variant names are priced at US $ 70. The Juliette one piece swim suit is priced at US $ 170.
The line is available on their official website and they ship worldwide.
