During the Mobile World Congress 2023, telecommunication giant Globe and play-to-earn game and asset discovery platform MetaverseGo expressed plans to push web3 and innovation education in the Philippines through community partnerships and innovative learning programs.
Push for Web3 Innovation and Education
In a statement, the initiative will signify the strengthened collaboration between the two entities, aiming to advance Web3 and innovation education. Key drivers of this transformative movement include community partnerships and innovative learning programs, designed to propel the adoption and understanding of cutting-edge technologies and foster a forward-looking educational ecosystem.
Andrew Lim, Lead for Subcultures of Innovations and Creator Culture at Globe, noted that the alliance shows the company’s commitment to becoming a key player in the digital realm.

“While Globe is known as the most reliable network, we also want to be a reliable source of education and upskilling activities that advance knowledge about innovations in the Philippines. Web3 and Innovations might seem like a niche subculture, but our partnership with MetaverseGo and the upcoming grassroots programs aim to bring these concepts to the mainstream,” Lim stated.
Ash Mandhyan, CEO of MetaverseGo, echoed the sentiment, stating that the partnership’s shared objective is to bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds. He added that they aim to increase accessibility and affordability of the MetaverseGo platform for its users.
“The fruits of this partnership are already visible, and it’s incredible to see Filipinos engage with our offerings in such an enthusiastic and impactful manner,” he said.
Globe has integrated its core offerings with MetaverseGo to merge traditional telecommunications services with Web3 concepts, building on its existing reputation and familiarity. Globe users can access the MetaverseGo all-in-one web3 mobile platform for free via Globe datapacks, which encourages engagement with Web3 games and NFTs.
Globe and MetaverseGo Collaboration
The two become partners in 2022, announced during the celebration of 917 #ExtraGDay, where MetaverseGo created the Gudi non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to commemorate the annual feast of Globe Telecom–the Gudi NFTs gave holders access to the G Music Fest and had the chance to win special prizes from Globe.
In November 2022, Globe and MetaverseGo formally signed a collaboration agreement.
As per the media release, the two entities also made a prior innovation through the integration of carrier billing solutions which allows Globe customers to now use prepaid credits to purchase subscription access to a diverse selection of Web2 and Web3 games in MetaverseGo.
Globe in Web3
Globe entered the metaverse last November by adopting its own virtual platform, Virtual Hangouts, and partnering with other local and global metaverse-focused entities.
It also partnered with Superordinary Friends, a collection of avatars representing Filipino food.
In June 2022, Globe expressed its aim to have partnerships with P2E publishers such as Sky Mavis, the developer of the 2E game Axie Infinity.
Aside from this, its fintech arm Gcash launched an in-app crypto-trading platform GCrypto, NFT collection House of Ohlala and a Filipino NFT platform for artists and buyers GCrypto NFT Hub.
Recently, Globe and GCrypto were the Official Connectivity Partner and the Official Crypto Offramp Partner of the Web3 Community Summit.
