Green Growth: Technological Innovation, Market Incentives and Investments for a Green Economy

On 10 May 2021, d\carb – Future Economy Forum is hosting an event on “Technological Innovation, Market Incentives and Investments for a Green Economy“.

How can we decarbonize our economy? This is the question to be discussed. The kick-off event opens the first part of the series “To grow or not to grow”, contrasting the emerging paradigm of Green Growth with proposals for economic contraction and Degrowth. It is about the narrative of climate-sensitive transformation and the academic research behind it.

This is the first event of a series on economic growth and climate change, organised by the student-led d\carb – Future Economy Forum and hosted by the Centre for Sustainability at the Hertie School.

Prof. Ottmar Edenhofer, Director and Chief Economist of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, discusses the opportunities and risks of transitioning our economy with Prof. Cameron Hepburn, Director of the Economics of Sustainability Programme and Professor of Environmental Economics at the University of Oxford. Johanna Schiele, McCloy-fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School, moderates the event.
