Healthcare+ Expo Taiwan 2023 Showcases Taiwan’s Leadership in AI Medical Innovation
The “Healthcare+ Expo Taiwan 2023” recently concluded its 7th edition, emerging as the premier AI medical event in the Asia-Pacific region. Held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center from November 30 to December 3, the expo experienced substantial growth, attracting over 650 domestic and international organizations and featuring a record-breaking 2,300 booths. The event facilitated impactful discussions among 2,000 international buyers and numerous overseas hospital directors through more than 500 matchmaking sessions on a global medical procurement network, including hosting a delegation from the United Arab Emirates. The expo’s focus on AI medical applications, such as AI-generated medical reports and early warning systems, drew attention from both domestic and international hospitals and technology partners. This further solidifies Healthcare+ Expo Taiwan’s pivotal role as a global platform advancing the smart healthcare industry. The event stands as a testament to Taiwan’s commitment to innovation and leadership in the rapidly evolving field of AI-driven healthcare. At the expo, industry leaders explored AI applications in healthcare, leveraging Taiwan’s leadership in AI chip design and system integration. Wong Chi-Huey, the President of the Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry (IBMI), stated that the exhibition’s success is rooted in Taiwan’s robust foundation in healthcare quality and innovative technology. This involves promoting the SNQ certification and endorsement, an annual process that recognizes healthcare teams influencing global treatment guidelines and enhancing healthcare quality. Barry Lam, Vice President of the Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry (IBMI), highlighted a cross-disciplinary cooperation platform connecting technological advantages with medical and health applications. Taiwan aspires to become a significant supporter of global AI smart healthcare. The expo showcased Taiwan’s achievements in healthcare quality and innovative technology, emphasizing cross-disciplinary cooperation to position Taiwan as a global center for medical innovation. Addressing the evolving elderly care industry, the Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry unveiled plans for an expo that will be showcasing innovative technologies tailored to the needs of the elderly, scheduled for December 5 to 8, 2024. Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen praised Taiwan’s prowess in information technology, healthcare, and clinical expertise, focusing on biomedical innovation and precision healthcare since 2016. Legislative measures, such as the ‘Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Development Act’ enacted last year, cover critical areas like regenerative medicine, precision medicine, and digital healthcare. President Tsai also underscored increased incentives for contract manufacturers in the biotechnology sector, outlining initiatives like the National Biotechnology Research Park and the Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park. These initiatives aim to support innovation and project Taiwan’s biomedicine industry to reach a value of NT$1 trillion.
