Hyderabad: IICT team receives National Award for technology innovation

The IICT researchers recently received the award from Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, D V Sadananda Gowda at a function in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Hyderabad: Team of researchers from the membrane separation processes of Hyderabad-based Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) led by senior principal scientist, Dr. S Sridhar, has received the 10th CIPET National Award for Technology Innovation 2021.

The award recognizes the work of the research team on reverse osmosis and electro-deionization (EDI) integrated process titled ‘Indigenous and Inexpensive Polymer Membrane-Resin Integrated Device for Production of Type-I and Type-II Ultrapure Water’ by the Department of Chemical and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, according to a press release.

The team led by Dr Sridhar, who is also co-chair from Process Engineering and Technology Department (PETT) include Dr. Nivedita Sahu, Principal Scientist, Dileep Kumar Fothedar, Senior Research Fellow, Bhadrachalam Narkuti, Junior Research Fellow and Bhoga Arundhathi, Junior Research Fellow.

The IICT researchers recently received the award from Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, D V Sadananda Gowda at a function in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

For the past two and half decades, the IICT membrane team has been involved in development of novel processes for defluoridation of ground water, purification of surface water, flood response, alkaline water, gas mixture separation and more recently, design of multilayered masks and face shields for mitigation of Covid-19, press release said.
