IGNITE receives Canie Award for Social Innovation for the Atlantic Region – The Pictou Advocate

IGNITE Labs, a leader in rural innovation and entrepreneurship, have been awarded the CANIE Award for Social Innovation for the Atlantic Region.

This award, presented by the Innovators & Entrepreneurs Foundation, is presented to organizations who have achieved excellence and innovation in social impact.

Since IGNITE began, the organization has strived to create a vibrant startup and innovation ecosystem in rural Nova Scotia.  Its two locations in Yarmouth and Pictou counties have worked to help grow new startup companies, foster an entrepreneurial mindset in youth and community, and work with traditional industries around innovation.

“This is really a team award.  The work from everyone on the IGNITE Team and their passion to help not only the startups we work with grow, but also to grow and improve the communities we live in.  Thank you to the Innovators & Entrepreneurs Foundation and all the sponsors for this prestigious award,” IGNITE CEO Doug Jones said.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Canie award ceremonies will be held online from May 28thto June 25th. The Atlantic ceremony is June 18.
