iland Wins Zero Trust Security Excellence Award | iland Innovation Blog
TMCnet recognizes iland Secure Cloud Backup with Insider Protection as innovative, industry-leading solution.
When it comes to “Zero Trust Security,” trust iland. Skeptical? Good. In the spirit of Zero Trust: Never trust, always verify. So don’t just take our word for it, ask TMCnet.
In case you missed it, TMCnet recently recognized iland with its 2021 Zero Trust Security Excellence Award. Judged by the editors of TMCnet — one of the industry’s leading creators of content and thought leadership resources — the award honors “leaders and pioneers” and “the brightest providers, offering the most innovative, effective solutions.”
“It gives me great pleasure to honor the recipients of the TMCnet Zero Trust Security Excellence Award,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. “The award recognizes solutions providers championing the ‘Trust nothing, verify everything’ mantra of a Zero Trust approach to security at a time when businesses are facing more complex and frequent threats than ever. The TMCnet Team is thoroughly impressed and congratulates the recipients.”
TMCnet specifically chose to highlight iland’s Secure Cloud Backup with Insider Protection solution, which provides customers enhanced protection against internal and external threats, including many types of ransomware. This add-on feature gives organizations an isolated, air-gapped copy of their data, that no one can delete. Those who pay close attention to the cybersecurity landscape and its recent dreary headlines, will know just how critical that protection is.
According to Cybersecurity Ventures, ransomware is the fastest growing type of cybercrime and is expected to attack a business, consumer, or device every two seconds by 2031. By 2025, they predict damages for all cybercrime to reach $15 trillion annually, up from $3 trillion in 2015. As threats continue to increase in frequency and sophistication, Insider Protection allows customers to stay one step ahead of the competition by protecting against the straightforward deletion of all backups as well as more sophisticated attacks.
With Insider Protection, backup files that are deleted accidentally or maliciously are retained in an air-gapped directory that is only accessible to iland technicians. The deleted files remain in this isolated folder for seven days and can be saved and transferred back to the customer once they are ready to restore data. This offers customers the confidence and peace of mind that their data will be safe, available, and easy to restore in the aftermath of a data loss event, even a ransomware attack.
An example of one such customer is Bachem, an international provider of pharmaceutical and biotech products and services. Armed with an iland-fortified business continuity strategy, which includes Insider Protection, Peter Kaufmann, vice president of global IT at Bachem, is able to combat the ever-lurking threat of ransomware with data that is secure and highly available.
“In this business, the number and type of cyberattacks are creating headaches for everybody,” said Kauffman. “We are convinced it’s important to have this level of safety. We have customers who are depending on a continuous supply of these APIs. We would be losing customers if we had to say, ‘Sorry we lost our data. We will be back in six months from now.’ That’s no option.”
As cybercriminals continue to evolve their methods, so, too, will innovative IT organizations like Bachem and iland. One such method, of course, is Zero Trust Security, which has become one of the more comprehensive and popular security strategies of the last decade. As alluded to earlier, the Zero Trust Security model can be summed up as “never trust, always verify.” In other words, no network access should be granted without verification — doesn’t matter if the connection is attempted from inside or outside the organization’s network.
In keeping with Zero Trust strategies, iland strives to embed security throughout our technology, processes, and culture. We believe security is truly a part of our DNA, native not just to one specific service or solution, but to everything we do. (Again, feel free to ask TMCnet about our bonafides.)
