Indivd was invited to speak at AI Summit 2019, which was organized by IT & Telekomföretagen, Teknikföretagen and AI Hub together with two other AI startups.

The purpose of AI Summit is to illustrate how businesses, research institutes, and the public sector need to work together to find groundbreaking solutions. AI Summit stands for a positive outlook on human and technological development. To reach the global challenges with the help of research, innovation in AI in solutions. This, in turn, requires cooperation between the business community, research institutes and the public sector.

Privacy innovations and heightened integrity

During his speech, Fredrik Hammargården talked about Indivd and how the company has chosen a slightly different approach when it comes to AI work.

– Our solution is based on a very advanced AI technology but AI is not central for us. Our technology is instead an advanced tool for finding a solution to a complex societal problem. The problem we see is the increasing use and misuse of data where our technology offers major benefits and heightened integrity. We have, instead of choosing the fastest way forward, invested in what we call “privacy innovations”. For several years, we have developed an alternative AI solution that can understand behaviors without processing biometric data, or store personal data. The technology instantaneously anonymizes the image data. This is the only possible future path to go, says Fredrik Hammargården, commercialization manager at Indivd, and continues:

– As we begin to work increasingly data-driven, we must all begin to think about what society we want and the consequences of what we are building. There are far too many examples of projects and data-driven companies with built-in bias or where data abuse is normal. Their business models are based on an old view of the world. Sweden has the right conditions and with the right support, we could become a major power in the area of ”privacy innovation”.
