Innovation Amid COVID-19: Egyptian Tour Guide Manufactures Papyrus Facemasks to Support Tourism
To support tourism amid COVID-19, Said Waziri, a local Luxor tour guide for German and English speaking visitors, manufactured a papyrus-made facemask which could be used for more than a month.
During a press conference, Waziri said that the masks conform to the specifications announced by the Ministry of Health and that they, of course, were well received by workers in the tourism field.
This inventive tour guide explained that he buys the plant from El-Bihera government then, with the help of his partner, withdraws the sugar material from the plant then begins to manufacture by cutting it and drawing Pharaonic pictures like Ain Horus, Isis and the Scarab beetle on them, which are probably made to give the mask a sprinkle of beauty as well as touristic value.
