Innovation and What’s Next, themes for Southeast Asia Venture Capital & Private Equity Conference 2019
The Malaysian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (MVCA) will be holding its annual, Southeast Asia Venture Capital & Private Equity Conference 2019 (SEAVCPE 2019) at Securities Commission Malaysia, tomorrow, the 25th of July.
The annual conference aims to provide venture capital (VC) and private equity (PE) players with awareness and knowledge of industry best practices, current challenges, impacts, opportunities and alternatives within the space in the region.
The event also acts as a platform for the players, which include practitioners, investors, regulators and SME’s to exchange ideas and enhance networking to further grow the industry not only in Malaysia but throughout Southeast Asia.
MVCA Chairman, Victor Chua, explains that this year’s conference theme, “Forging Innovation, What’s Next” highlights the importance of companies riding on the Industrial Revolution 4.0 wave as this means survival through innovation.
“The days of companies and countries relying on the old school way of doing business is over. Most businesses will be commoditized if they don’t figure out a way to innovate. Just like how online travel agencies are affecting the hoteliers and airlines. The lack of data becomes an issue for old businesses to understand their end users better,” said Chua, who is also the Managing Partner of Vynn Capital.
As such, the conference this year, to be officiated by Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change, Yeo Bee Yin, is specifically focused on how the new integrates with the old.
“The MVCA is also grateful to receive support from the government for its initiative and hopes this conference will add value to industry players,” he said.
The topics this time around include an overview of the current VC and PE sector, explores application of Industry 4.0, has case studies on AI, Big Data, IoT, Greentech and looks at deep tech verticals and the opportunities and challenges of deep tech in Southeast Asia.
Speakers include from Frost & Sullivan, Aerodyne Group, Naluri Life, Preqin, MDT Innovations, Green & Smart, MTDC (Malaysia Technology Development Corp), Strand Aerospace, Twsitcode, HLx and E-Vault Technologies.
Tickets are sold between RM1,250 and RM1,500 and can be purchased at the conference held at Securities Commission Malaysia, from 9am to 5.30pm tomorrow.
