Israel Showcases Agritech Innovation At The Israel Pavilion Expo2020
The Israel Pavilion at Expo2020 in Dubai, will be running a series of events, lectures, and presentations this week showcasing the country’s latest tech advancements and innovations in agriculture, food, and climate change.
Events will run until Wednesday, February 23rd. The Israel Pavillion is the first world expo to be held in the Middle East. Originally slated to run from October 20, 2020, to April 10, 2021, the Dubai Expo 2020 was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It began last October and will finish this year on March 31st. Representatives from 192 countries and organizations are participating in this global event to display their respective cultures and technological innovations as a way to unite together to share new ideas with an emphasis this year on sustainability and mobility solutions.
The agriculture week will feature senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, KKL-JNF, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and cutting-edge researchers, who are working to transform Israeli agriculture and promote local and global solutions for food security.
The first event already underway is called “Innovative Agriculture & Food for All.” The event, which focuses on growing fresh and healthy food under extreme weather conditions in the wake of the global climate crisis, is held by The Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Agricultural Research Organisation, the Volcani Institute, and Israeli NGO Start-Up Nation Central, The three-day event is geared towards policymakers, researchers and start-ups from around the world to showcase Israel’s expertise and innovation in the field of agriculture.
Israeli agri-tech companies including CropX, See Tree, Taranis, Tevel Aerobotics, Manna irrigation, XSense, Netafim, Collplant, Salicrop, BeeHero, Equinom, BioBee, Hargol Foodtech, Strauss Group, Aleph Farms, Trendlines Agtech, and Vertical Field Ltd. will present their technological contributions ranging from pesticide reduction, mitigating desertification, developing protein-rich foods, water conservation, soil loss and erosion prevention, solar energy utilization, and many others.
The second half of the week’s events will cover agricultural strategies specific to arid and desert landscapes with panel discussion events entitled “Innovative Desert Agriculture and Food Security” and “The Wonder of Agriculture and Vineyards in the Desert”.
“Israel has always been a global leader in agriculture, and today Israeli agri-tech plays a key role in finding innovative solutions to address climate change and our food security,” said Oded Forer, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, “The Expo event puts this in the spotlight.”
