Johnson Controls unveils Innovation Centre in Bengaluru to pioneer Sustainable Building Technology
Johnson Controls opened its innovation center in Bengaluru. The OpenBlue Innovation Centre is the organization’s tenth such facility worldwide and third in India (other centers are in Pune and Hyderabad).
The cutting-edge Bengaluru facility will use artificial intelligence and other new technologies to create energy-efficient building technology and support India’s 2070 net zero goals. The company’s largest facility in the nation and an experience center with live demonstrations of building technology can be found at the Bengaluru center. In a fully functional, real-world setting, it will have OpenBlue, a collection of connected solutions utilizing cloud, edge, and AI technology. In a smart building, customers can also view the digital twin of the systems, devices, processes, and assets.
“OpenBlue is a cutting-edge digital technology that is enabling buildings to achieve net zero emissions and even net energy positive status. We are eager to grow our OpenBlue network in India because this country is at the forefront of technological advancements. We look forward to exploring new avenues in advancing net zero solutions for the building sector with the thriving tech ecosystem here, said Vijay Sankaran, Johnson Controls’ chief technology officer.
There are 300 engineers working at the new OpenBlue Innovation Center, and the company has stated that it will be adding more positions in the coming years, including those for digital twin, research and development, edge engineers, computer vision scientists, and cyber security experts.
“Johnson Controls has internally established an AI council to collaborate and develop generative AI solutions,” Sankaran continued. The business is creating a copilot-like solution to help its service technicians identify and address issues in a building. Moving forward, this solution would also be offered to their clients.
