LucidSound LS100X Wireless Gaming Headset Review: An Ingenious Innovation Of A Gaming Headset
Curious does not begin to truly capture my feelings when I first had the chance to get LucidSound’s brand-new LS100X Wireless Gaming Headset into my hands. Having used the headset for the last week or so, I’m truly impressed with what this headset does right. Though there’s a caveat that comes along with this headset, I’m a happy camper when it comes to all of the boxes this decently-priced headset manages to check off.
What’s in the Box
As I’ve never had the pleasure to unbox a LucidSound product before, I was pleasantly surprised by the fan-fare that comes with the box. Between the manual, features card, and beautiful sticker, I really had a bit of hype behind me as I dove further into the headset’s box. Once you get past the paperwork, you’ll find the LS100X itself, a wireless receiver dongle, a USB-C charging cable, its removable boom mic, and a small cover to place over the mic port when it isn’t being used.
Aesthetics and Build Quality
I’ve got to admit, between my Xbox Series S and Nintendo Switch OLED, this headset manages to strike a perfect balance, making it look perfect with either one I choose. Thanks to its mostly black design with small touches of white, it’s a modern and elegant design for a gaming headset that manages to toe the line between that signature “gamer look” as well as a more mature look very perfectly.
When it comes to build quality, at first, I was a little disappointed at the fact that this headset doesn’t scream premium. This is the only issue I have with the headset because it can take away from everything that it does right if you don’t take everything into consideration. It just isn’t the most solid build I’ve seen in a headset, but luckily, the features that the LS100X has justified the price. And honestly, at this price, there are going to be corners that have to be cut in order to bring those features along for the ride. I will say that the buttons, dials, and memory foam ear cushions feel fantastic.
Specs and Special Features
The LS100X is chock-full of fantastic features that you really won’t find in a headset at this price point. A battery that lasts up to 130 hours, various onboard EQ presets, Game Mode, and Bluetooth, as well as two mics. My jaw was on the floor when I looked into everything this headset does. I found it all to work extremely well and fluidly. I never ran into hiccups switching between Game Mode or Bluetooth either. Battery life lived up to its name, with me not even having to charge this thing once since I started using it.

Audio Quality
The audio of the LS100X is fantastic, with a great balance between lows, mids, and highs. You’ll feel engrossed in gaming environments or even music and movies when you’re just relaxing. I found the EQ presets to be great, though, the most difference you’ll find is in the FPS mode as things will really jump out at you when it’s on. For the price, this doesn’t miss a step.
What it Could Have Done Better
My singular complaint about this headset is its build quality, specifically the headband itself. While it’s definitely flexible and should hold up, I just found the sliding mechanisms to seem cheap as they’re solely plastic which could lead to cracking down the line. Though again, the build quality feels right when you take the price and features into consideration because this thing is amazing.
Verdict
My final verdict on the LucidSound LS100X is that it’s probably the best headset you will find at its price point. Though it may lack slightly in some build quality areas, there are no other headsets with features like this for $100. This is going to be my go-to headset when I need to use multiple devices as it’s a truly versatile and surprising hit of a headset. This is a home run. Loving it!
