Luxe at Home: Canal House

by

We’re back with another installment of our Luxe at Home series where we recreate design inspiration from boutique hotels around the globe! So far we’ve been inspired by the rugged and romantic style tucked away in the hills of tuscany and the rustic wintery charm at Copperhill Mountain. This month European design continues to peak our interest and we’ve found a place where most people fall in love with the views of the water. Beautiful architecture and historic facades of houses are popular sights for the bicyclists, boats and tourists that are always zipping past! Can you guess which corner of the world we’re taking you to?

If you haven’t figured it out yet, we are taking a closer look at Dutch design, in the charming city of Amsterdam! Located in the Jordaan district, the Canal House is a boutique 23 room establishment where the design is a mix of contemporary elements and influences from Dutch culture of the 17th century. Historic architectural features such as timber beams, ornate fireplaces, and ceilings have been retained and restored while artwork inspired by the great Dutch Masters can be found adorning the walls of each room.  The Canal House is a cozy retreat that has simple luxuries: a bar that overlooks the Keizersgracht Canal, private gardens and a great room filled with monumental features are just a few. Some of the most notable amenities can be found in the rooms. Glamorous, dark and romantic, these open-layout bedrooms can make for a luxurious escape. Walls lined in taupe silk, plush velvet bedding in royal hues and beautiful bathroom fittings are some of the key design elements in this room. Modern and structural pieces like the freestanding tubs, cross-handle faucets and vessel washbasins provide contrast to the traditional features in the space. Let’s face it, the spa-like amenities are probably the best part of the design! Check out the photos below for inspiration and see our curated list of items that can help you recreate this look in your own home.
