Since 2010, the Armstrong Institute for Interactive Media Studies (AIMS) has coordinated programs and internships for students in tech and entrepreneurial businesses and communities in San Francisco. In 2014, the Ohio Means Internships and Co-Ops Grant provided a grant to launch the Cincinnati Digital Innovation Center.

The Luxembourg Digital Innovation Center is a partnership among AIMS, the Institute for Entrepreneurship and the Miami University Dolibois European Center. Students from all majors who have experience in digital marketing, interactive media studies or web application development are welcome to apply.

“Miami’s new Digital Innovation Center will contribute to the national digitalization agenda of Luxembourg.”

Students will be placed in internships four days a week with Friday visits to startups and digital companies in the region. “We are really excited to launch the first international version of the Digital Innovation Program, a program that has already been so successful in San Francisco and Cincinnati. Luxembourg was the logical choice for our first international program, not only due to its thriving startup scene, but also because of government-led initiatives like Digital Luxembourg and also the focus on innovation from established companies in the financial and consulting sectors,” said Glenn Platt, C. Michael Armstrong Chair, Professor of Marketing, and Director of the Interactive Media Studies Program (and AIMS).

“I am convinced that Miami’s new Digital Innovation Center will contribute to the national digitalization agenda of Luxembourg, and I’m proud to see students engage in a new learning adventure thanks to the exceptional technological ecosystem of the country,” added Thierry Leterre, Dean of the Miami University Dolibois European Center (MUDEC) in Luxembourg.

About the Miami University John E. Dolibois European Center

The Miami University John E. Dolibois European Center (MUDEC) celebrated its 50th anniversary in the fall of 2018. It is one of the oldest and most well-established study abroad programs in the United States. The program’s motto is Study, Engage, Travel, which reflect the three main pillars of the student experience.

“Luxembourg was the logical choice for our first international program, not only due to its thriving startup scene, but also because of government-led initiatives like Digital Luxembourg and also the focus on innovation from established companies in the financial and consulting sectors.”

Over 200 students enroll in the program each year, spending either an entire semester or attending a program during the summer. Students are encouraged to venture beyond the classroom while they are in Luxembourg. The Service-Learning program gives them the opportunity to volunteer in schools, day care centers, social pantries, and other non-profit organizations. Many students also pursue internships during the semester or as part of the Summer Internship Program, which is offered in close collaboration with a variety of companies in Luxembourg. The opening of the Digital Innovation Center will expand those internship opportunities.

MUDEC hosts a student teaching program in local high schools for Education majors doing their in-class teaching assignments and hosted a Summer Camp for local students, in cooperation with the École Internationale de Differdange & Esch-sur Alzette (EIDE), for the first time during the summer of 2019.
