New York Future Fintech Leaders – FinTech Innovation Lab

The FinTech Innovation Lab New York has partnered with Pursuit to launch Future Fintech Leaders, a program designed to create and empower a pipeline of diverse and non-traditional talent within the financial services industry. Graduates of Pursuit’s software development training program fill critical roles as software developers and work alongside FinTech Innovation Lab New York entrepreneurs to gain access to a network of industry executives and learn how to grow a company.

The technology industry lacks diversity nationally and New York City is no exception. The Future Fintech Leaders program seeks to change that and better reflect the diversity that drives New York City.

The 2019 Future Fintech Leaders include:

Shannon Alexander

A Bronx resident, Shannon dreams of becoming an engineering manager and leading companies that promote wealth building and management for people from all backgrounds. Shannon is excited to participate in Future Fintech Leaders and gain more exposure to innovations that make wealth building more accessible. Shannon will be working at npm, a company participating in the 2019 FinTech Innovation Lab, as a junior engineer in QA automation.

Daniel Cortes

A 2016 SUNY Albany graduate from Queens, Cortes hopes to leverage his previous experience with the Ethereum Blockchain to establish a cryptocurrency hedge fund that gives the everyday person the confidence to invest. Cortes is joining Kasisto, an alumni company of the FinTech Innovation Lab whose conversational artificial intelligence platform powers virtual assistants and bots on mobile, web, messaging-platform and voice-enabled devices.

Caroline Cruz

A single mother from the Bronx, Cruz dreams of starting her own financial company. Through Future Fintech Leaders, she can provide a better for life for her daughter and inspire her to pursue her dreams. Cruz is joining Pymetrics, an alumni company of the FinTech Innovation Lab New York that applies neuroscience games and artificial intelligence to help companies attract, select and retain talent.

Steven Ramirez

The child of Colombian immigrants from Queens, Ramirez aims to empower Latino and LGBTQ communities in fintech. As a Future Fintech Leader, he will bring his technical expertise and fresh perspective to the industry. Ramirez is joining BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager and an institutional partner of the FinTech Innovation Lab.
