Nigerian Government vows to support innovation, innovators

The Nigerian Government has promised to continue supporting innovation and innovators in the country.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami stated this while addressing participants at the Public Service Innovation Challenge.

Voice of Nigeria reports that participants representing the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy clinched the top three positions to emerge first, second and third winners of the competition among 168 participants nationwide.

The Communications Minister, Dr. Isa Pantami expressed satisfaction at their performance and presented them with digital tools.

He affirmed that the ministry was proud of the achievement and that “the federal government will continue to support innovation and innovators that is why In addition to the monetary prizes won by our able teams, we are also presenting them with Laptops to further encourage and support their drive”

The winning teams who were presented with Laptops include
Sogunro Oyindamola and Iliya Abdurrahman who won the first prize for developing a software solution that provides a reliable platform for organisation, Oluwaseun Winsala and Francis Ebire came second with their Digital ID Wallet Blockchain solution, while Zainab Saka and Tolulope Ibitoye came third with an effective reward system for civil servants.

The maiden edition of the competition organised by the Office of the Head of Service of the federation also saw the Ministry carting away the fourth and fifth positions at the competition.

It will be recalled that the competition was aimed at promoting innovation in the public service.
