Nintendo president reiterates the company’s need for innovation and fun

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has reiterated to the press that the company can not rest on its laurels and needs to continue giving fans what they want, while keeping innovation at an all-time high. Mr. Fururkawa says that the Kyoto-based company has to ensure that people do not get bored of Nintendo’s first party games and that the need for innovation and delivering quality products that the people want is vital in the company’s efforts to keep gamers engaged with Nintendo games and platforms.

“We always keep in mind that if we do not keep putting out things that people truly want, they’ll get bored of us. Right now, there are various forms of entertainment besides video games. I believe that making people want to spend their precious time on video games, and Nintendo games no less, is a very harsh battle. We approach everything while resolved to the fact that at any time, people may start thinking they do not need Nintendo games anymore.”

Maybe they should use the IR Sensor on the Right Joycon and take a step into VR Fully

I have a feeling this will be delved more into with the next system. The tech is there and with the Wii sensor working great and the switch’s working good along with the gyro it is very possible. I just hope they don’t plan to sell any vr stuff for more than the system like Sony. Definitely will not be buying that VR when I already have the first one.

They irony of strikers being the thumbnail is super funny cause that and super rush got boring pretty quick with having less content and being slow dripfeed later with more content

Without the Switch, I don’t think Nintendo would’ve ever recovered from the Wii U. That would’ve been a dark place if Nintendo was no longer selling games like they are now.

The 3DS still exists. Nintendo was going to be fine, but they were going to recover in three years.
F=ma.

“We always keep in mind that if we do not keep putting out things that people truly want, they’ll get bored of us” I Want a Normal Console With Normal Controls. Focus on Specs, not Hardware. “I believe that making people want to spend their precious time on video games, and Nintendo games no less, is a very harsh battle.” Video Games are Bigger than ever. People Want The Best Looking and Performing Games Possible, Not Gimmicks that Get in the Way. I don’t need two Screens, or Motion Controls, or Gyro, or things like that, whenever I play a Switch game that has those I hate them. I is going to be 2024 and Nintendo want’s their next Console to be slightly as Powerful as a PS4 from 2013. Most People Buy Nintendo Games for the Games and besides Splatoon, Most Nintendo Games Usually stick to Traditional Controls. Star Fox Zero, Arms, Captain Toad, all failed in Nintendo’s Eyes. They Think People don’t want Star Fox, they are out of touch. People Want Star Fox Greatly but they Ruined Zero. People Want Traditional Controls, People Want Continuation of Story and Not Reboots and Retellings every time. Star Fox had so much lore going for it and Shigeru Miyamoto was like throw it all away. People Loved Paper Mario until they started Focusing on only Gimmicks. They had a Masterpiece Franchise and Formula that people Loved. I want the Real Paper Mario Back

I commend you for having the courage to state all of that. Especially here. Lot of robotized-sheep in the Nintendo community. I agree with a lot of it. I will say this. I don’t think Nintendo needs to stop trying to be innovative. I think they need to realize that bleeding-edge performance does not have to be sacrificed for “innovation and fun.”

If the Wii U was as powerful or more powerful than the PS4, it would have dominated that generation. If the Switch was as powerful as the Steam Deck at least, maybe we don’t even see a Steam Deck, or ROG Ally, or Ayaneo 2. The fact that the Switch is so grossly under-powered, that created a NEED for those devices and now the Switch is no longer unique. Hybrid-gaming is now…………. “normal.”

Thanks mostly in-part to the Switch, but as I just mentioned, Nintendo left the back door open, and the thieves gained easy entry into that space. It’s no-longer blue-ocean. Quite honestly, when you consider the amount of casual-gamers on their mobile-devices and add in the hybrid-consoles to boot, the traditional home-console market is now the blue-ocean and may not be sustainable.

Whether the next console is another Switch (which they have repeatedly stated they are NOT going to do publicly and at investor’s meetings but who knows,) or something else, it needs to be at least in the room of the PS5 and XBOX Series S/X even if it is way in the back. A hybrid-device that is as powerful as an XBOX One X would be good enough for me. That would allow for most 1st-party Nintendo games to run at 4K60. I say PS4 Pro level is the absolute floor. It can’t be less-powerful than that.

Ironic that they say this, but still turned Zelda into every other Open World Fantasy Game currently on the market with BOTW and TOTK, solely because they got bored of the formula people were used to.
