Northern Innovation and Startup Center holds first workshops on Thursday

Northern Innovation and Startup Center holds first workshops on Thursday ABERDEEN, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The Northern Innovation and Startup Center, located on the NSU campus, alongside businesses such as NVC, is helping to educate the community on business matters. The first seminars kicked off on Thursday and happen until April 23. Some are single day and others happen over multiple days. “We at the Northern Innovation Startup Center are here to help create a culture, embracing technology and helping individuals take their ideas and concepts, and turning them into a company by embracing technology and celebrating innovation while embracing a fail-forward mentality,” Program Director Bea Smith explained. There was a nice turnout for Thursday’s first workshop of the series, which is open to individuals in northeast South Dakota in person at the Startup Center and online. “Our programming is geared towards more of the startup, more of the entrepreneur. But our tech workshops are basically 60-minute sessions to learn technology skills, and those are for entrepreneurs, small business owners, nonprofits, the general public, anybody within northeast South Dakota,” Smith said. “I found out it was free to come and learn how to start my business,” said attendee Vicki Fredrickson. “I’ve been trying to get it off the ground and I needed some assistance, so it’s been exciting to know that there’s some experts that can help me.” You can learn more about the Northern Innovation and Startup Center here.
